This training aims to enhance understanding and awareness of dementia. The Prime Minister’s Challenge on Dementia (2020) builds on the progress made since Living Well With Dementia: A National Dementia Strategy (2009) and outlines future goals for improving dementia care and support.

Understanding Dementia and Its Impact

This course explores key aspects of cognitive decline, effective communication, and problem-solving strategies. This stand-alone course aligns closely with the NAPPI Positive Behaviour Support Model. By improving awareness of how dementia affects individuals, employees can take proactive steps to reduce behaviours of concern and promote a better quality of life for those they support. Now more than ever before, increasing employee awareness of dementia is essential to ensuring individuals receive appropriate care and support tailored to their needs.

Who Should Attend?

This awareness workshop is designed for anyone supporting individuals living with dementia. It serves as a foundational course and is a prerequisite for those wanting to become Dementia Awareness Trainers.

Course Structure – NAPPI Remote Delivery

2 x 90-minute blocks over Zoom.

Remote Delivery differs from conventional e-learning as groups engage with a live delivery. A virtual classroom is accessed by participants who interact with the trainer (and each other) throughout. This is the perfect solution and is very cost effective for small groups.

The awareness session is three-hours long, delivered over two 90 minute blocks.

Become a Dementia Awareness Trainer

As a Dementia Awareness Trainer, you will be licensed for 12 months to deliver the NAPPI Remote Delivery Dementia Awareness course. You will receive comprehensive support, including:

• Access to your own Trainer Account for processing training sessions.
• Participant registration forms and an assessment tracking document.
• An Organisation Account to oversee all training activities.
• Auditing of all training courses that you deliver.
