NAPPI Positive Behaviour Support Model – Remote Delivery

The NAPPI Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) Model training is delivered over six-hours, via Remote Delivery. NAPPI Remote Delivery differs from conventional e-learning as groups engage with a live delivery. A virtual classroom is accessed by participants who interact with the trainer (and each other) throughout. This is the perfect solution and is very cost effective for small groups.

Open courses are delivered over two consecutive mornings, two x 90-minute blocks to minimise screen time for your employees and for our trainers.  Closed courses (for your staff only) can be delivered to meet your preference.

Block 1: Primary Prevention (90 minutes)

Amber Awareness

The Amber Section identifies reasons why an individual becomes distressed. Increased awareness of how an individual is affected by stress will enable employees to provide proactive support that will reduce stress that an individual may experience and will increase their quality of life.

SMART Principles

The NAPPI approach to PBS includes the Five SMART Principles, a framework of considerations when interacting or intervening with a service user who at times can become distressed.

Block 2: Secondary Prevention (90 minutes)

Red Behaviour Scale and Documentation Activity

Secondary prevention strategies closely relate to the levels of the Red Behaviour Scale, used as a tool to assess the level of behaviour of concern. A NAPPI trained employee understands the communication of presenting behaviour and is able to select appropriate responses from a range of options.

Block 3: Primary Prevention (90 minutes)

Care Team Responses

The bottom part of the Amber Section is where the wider team reflects upon the organisation, care team, and individual working practices to ensure quality of service delivery.

Block 4: Primary Prevention (90 minutes)

Green Behaviour Scale

A strategy populated by activity representing quality of life. Understanding the positive impact of quality, and negative impact of absence of quality is essential to fully understand an individual and associated escalation of behaviour.

Embedding the Behaviour Scales into Practice (60-minutes)

The NAPPI training that you will undertake will explain the three scales of the NAPPI PBS Model. You are invited to attend a free session that provides a structured approach to embed these scales across different settings, ensuring they are used effectively to improve quality of life and reduce behaviours of concern.

During this session we will be looking at the NAPPI Organisation account that is free to use for all NAPPI clients. Your trainer will demonstrate what we consider as best practice through PBS Cloud, an additional service; however, if you use another online system, you can apply your knowledge of the system to that part. We will merely use PBS Cloud to demonstrate certain areas.
